Laurie’s Bio
I am truly blessed to have had a career that has been so personally and professionally rewarding. After twenty-six years, I am still passionate about my work and the people I meet in my practice. As a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Educator, and Bodyworker, Licensed Esthetician, and Nutritional Therapist, I specialize in skin and body care with an emphasis on healthy aging through enhanced nutrition and state-of-the-art products and services.
I had my first professional massage in Calistoga in 1983. I walked out of that treatment thinking to myself, “If I could make other people feel this good, what a gift that would be”. By the summer of the following year I was a certified massage therapist, the first in my small town of Visalia. I immediately enrolled in a 1000 hr. program to earn my Holistic Health Practitioner’s certification with an emphasis in bodywork. That began a bodywork career which has spanned twenty-six years and has evolved to include various modalities including Neuromuscular Therapy, Somatics, Bioenergetics, and most recently, Applied Postural Assessment.
I’d long been interested in adding skincare to my repertoire, having worked alongside a talented esthetician and seen the results she was able to offer her clients. As I approached 50, I became even more interested in anti-aging technologies as I strove to combat the effects of years of poor skincare habits and UV damage. When my mother suffered a brain aneurysm several years ago, I moved to Santa Rosa to care for her. I took advantage of being in proximity to esthetics training and became a licensed esthetician. Skincare is a dynamic field, and I continue to add to my knowledge and expertise in order to offer cutting-edge treatments that repair and enhance to make a real difference in one’s personal appearance.
Living in a small town on the remote northern coast of California means that you get to know many of the people who live there. Volunteerism is the only thing that keeps a small rural community going, and I’ve always tried to do my part by contributing in some way. Currently, I’m on the Board of the Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce. It has given me an opportunity to interact personally with many of the local businesses in order to help make our local economy more viable and to help maintain our gorgeous scenic coastline and a quality of life not often found in larger communities.
My life is not all work and no play, however. I’ve been having a ball playing the fiddle and singing in a band with close friends every week for the last twelve years. I’ve also been learning to Salsa dance for the last couple of years down in the North Bay, and I’m really loving it! I’ve got a wonderful dog who goes just about everywhere with me, and recently a goofy kitten who is also learning to be a good traveler!
So if you see a gray car with a blonde dog, a tabby cat, and a bumper sticker that says, “Don’t Postpone Joy!” traveling down Highway 1, don’t hesitate to say “Hi!” That’ll be me!
